About The Department

The Department of Tourism Guidance was established with the decision taken at the meeting of the Higher Education Executive Board on 28.02.2018, and the first student registrations will be received in the fall semester of the 2019-2020 academic year and will begin educational activities.

Purpose of the Department

The aim of the department is to follow national and international developments and professional innovations, to train qualified tourist guides, employees, middle and upper level manager candidates who create added value to the sector with their knowledge and skills by providing an up-to-date scientific and quality education. For this purpose, who knows English at a good level and a second foreign language at an intermediate level; Turkey's natural, historical and cultural knowledge of attractiveness; gifted in good communication skills in human relations; can think analytically while interpreting events and facts; advanced problem solving, management and organizational knowledge and skills; possess basic social values ​​such as tolerance, courtesy, respect and honesty; having leadership and representation ability; It is aimed to train qualified tourist guides and manager candidates.

In line with this goal, the developments and innovations in the tourism sector in determining the courses included in the curriculum prepared, Higher Education Council (YÖK), T.C. Ministry of Tourism, Tourist Guides Association of Turkey (TUREB), the World Tourist Guides Association (WFTG) 's place is also given to the course it deems necessary.

Admission and Registration Requirements

Admission and registration to the faculty are regulated within the framework of the Higher Education Law and rules. Students are admitted to the faculty according to the results of the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Registration of candidates who have received sufficient points from TYT and YDT (Foreign Language) exams for admission to the faculty are made at the Faculty of Tourism on the dates determined by the Higher Education Council.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Before the student enrolls in the faculty, the courses taken and achieved in the undergraduate or associate degree program of any higher education institution can be compared with the courses in the program he enrolled with the decision of the Faculty Administrative Board, and the adjustment process can be made between the courses that comply with the relevant regulation in terms of content and credit load. In addition, a placement test is held at the beginning of each academic term for the English courses included in the first four semesters of the curriculum of the program. Those who pass the exam will continue from the upper level (advanced level). According to the European Language Portfolio, those whose English language knowledge is at B2 (Intermediate) level can take an alternative foreign language course in the curriculum instead of English from the first semester if they wish.

Proficiency Level Earned

Students who successfully complete all of the courses available in the program (equivalent to 240 ECTS) are awarded a bachelor's degree. In order to obtain a bachelor's degree, students must successfully complete all of the compulsory and elective courses (equivalent to a total of 240 ECTS) and have a cumulative grade point average of 60 out of 100 (at least 2.0 out of 4.00). In addition, in order to graduate from this department, students are required to complete 70 working days of workplace training (on-the-job professional practices) in enterprises deemed appropriate by the department establishment.

Transition to Higher Degree Programs

Candidates who have successfully completed their undergraduate education can study in postgraduate programs provided that they get a valid grade from the ALES exam and have sufficient English language knowledge.
