Arabic Language and Culture PhD Programme

In the PhD Programme of the Department of Arabic Language and Culture, which started to accept students as of the academic year 2022-2023 within the Institute of Living Languages in Turkey at Mardin Artuklu University, language and literature, comparative literature, Arabic dialects and folkloric issues of these dialects are handled scientifically and it is aimed to bring important studies to the literature in this sense.

In our PhD programme, in addition to courses such as History of Arabic Literature, Sarf and Nahiv Knowledge and Arabic Text Readings, Classical Arabic Poetry and Modern Arabic Poetry, courses such as Arabic Cultural History, Dialectology, Arabic Oral Culture are also included.

In our PhD programme, it is possible to write theses in two different languages, Arabic and Turkish.

The need for field experts trained in this field in different institutions in Turkey, including academic communities, provides significant advantages to those who successfully complete the programme in terms of career.

About Arabic Language and Culture Master's Programme with Thesis

The Master's Programme with Thesis in Arabic Language and Culture within the Institute of Languages Living in Turkey at Mardin Artuklu University has been accepting students since 2017. In this process, dozens of students, including foreign students, have successfully completed their education in this programme and graduated.

In the Master's Programme with Thesis in the Department of Arabic Language and Culture, in addition to studies on language and literature, comparative literature and especially the Arabic dialect and folkloric issues of this dialect in Mardin province and its surroundings, which is one of the cities where Arabic is spoken, are to be studied scientifically and to bring important studies to the literature in this sense.

In addition to courses such as History of Arabic Literature, Arabic Grammar Principles and Arabic Text Readings, which are taught in equivalent programmes in Turkey, our department also offers courses on specific topics such as Arabic Cultural History, Dialectology, Arabic Oral Culture.

In our department, each of the lecturers, including foreign lecturers, are experts in their fields. In addition, there is a postgraduate education library and field trips for field studies.

In our Master's Programme with Thesis, it is possible to write theses in both Arabic and Turkish.

The need for field experts trained in this field in different institutions in Turkey provides advantages in terms of career.
