Master’s Degree Programs

Mardin Artuklu University Department of Sociology and Konya Selçuk University Department of Sociology jointly opened the Sociology Master's Program for the first time in 2011-2012 and 2012-2013. Since the 2015-2016 academic year, the Sociology Master's Program has continued to accept students as Mardin Artuklu University Department of Sociology.

The Sociology Master's Program primarily aims to enable students who have completed the Sociology Undergraduate Education Program to specialize in their fields and to be employed in various professions. It is also clear that the program will indirectly contribute to the Sociology Undergraduate Education Program. Our program has been developing itself recently. A foreign language score requirement has been introduced in the application and the necessary sensitivity has been shown for students to use foreign resources. In addition, every effort is made to ensure student quality and the preparation and finalization of a qualified thesis.

Thanks to the courses they took in social theory and methodology, some of our students wrote theses on theory, while others used different qualitative research methods to conduct field studies on different social issues related to Mardin, the region and Turkey more broadly. The ability to conduct sociological studies on Mardin and the region has been an important advantage of our master's program, especially considering the facilities provided by all libraries in Mardin. Studies not only on the region but also on the issues discussed in Türkiye and developments in social theory show the national and global horizons of our master's program.
