Based on the needs identified as a result of the current situation assessment, four-bin waste separation bins have been placed in appropriate locations across our university's main campus and affiliated campuses . The bins were positioned based on student and staff density, building usage purposes, and accessibility criteria.
Within the scope of placement studies:
· In the ground floors, common areas and corridors of academic and administrative buildings,
In libraries, dining halls, canteens and social facilities,
· In dormitories and student areas,
· Waste separation boxes are positioned in open areas with intense pedestrian circulation.
This initiative strengthened the physical infrastructure necessary for separate waste collection at source across the university , encouraging active participation in the zero-waste system by students, faculty, and administrative staff. Furthermore, responsibility for regular monitoring and maintenance of the bins was delegated to the relevant unit's zero-waste officers, ensuring the sustainability of the system.
