BANKING COURSE CONTENTS

ATATÜRK PRINCIPLES AND HISTORY OF TURKISH REVOLUTION I
The objectives of the Atatürk principles and history of the Turkish revolution course and the analysis of some concepts related to the revolution. Reform movements in the Ottoman state in the 19th century; intellectual movements aiming to save the state in the last period of the Ottoman Empire; political and military events in the last period of the Ottoman Empire; the Mondros Armistice as the path to salvation; initial occupations and the condition of the country; the national struggle period; the preparatory phase of the national struggle analyzed.

TURKISH LANGUAGE I (2+0)
Language, languages and Turkish language, grammar, word, sentence, parts of speech, elements and types of expression, basic principles of proper and effective speaking, rules of petition and resume writing, spelling and punctuation rules; identification of expression errors and body language topics are taught.

ENGLISH I (3+0)
New grammar structures (indirect speech, conditional clauses, adjective clauses) are taught, and activities to encourage students' creativity and mental abilities to use these structures actively are applied.

COMMERCIAL MATHEMATICS
Topics: Real numbers, variables and functions; limits, numerical sequences and famous limits; concept of limit and continuity of functions; derivative and differential, examining functions using derivatives, higher order derivatives and differentials, Taylor formulas, applications of differential calculus in physical and geometric problems; indefinite integral and integrals of elementary functions; advanced integral techniques; integrals of rational and irrational functions.

INTRODUCTION TO BANKING AND INSURANCE
Definition and functions of money, basic functions of banks in the economy, structure of the financial system and financial instruments, Turkish banking system and its historical development, organizational structure in banking and central bank, regulation and supervision in financial markets, financial crises.

Definition and historical development of insurance and insurability, basic principles of insurance, types of insurance, insurance contracts; concepts of damage, compensation and reinsurance, features; basic principles of insurance management, definition, sources and classification of risk and insurance, establishment and organizational structure of insurance companies, management, strategic planning in insurance companies, technical profit/loss calculation and application in insurance companies, budgeting, internal audit, state supervision, independent audits.

GENERAL BUSINESS
Basic concepts of business, historical development, business establishment procedures, classification, legal forms, sizes and functions of businesses (management and organization, finance, marketing, human resources, production, public relations, R&D); environmental relations of businesses and practical case study applications.

BASIC LAW
Definition of law from legal schools perspective, sources of law and relationships between different legal sources, application of legal rules in terms of place, time, subject, person, meaning; legal institutions and concepts, legal sanctions; divisions of law, legal acts, events and actions; rights and duties, authorities and responsibilities, legal persons and corporations; Turkish judiciary system.

BASIC INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES I
Introduction to computers and hardware, operating systems and application software, Windows OS, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet usage, information technologies.

KEYBOARD TECHNIQUES I
Document formatting rules, horizontal and vertical alignment, correction marks, importance of error-free and clean office documents, writing from drafts, typing skills, attention skills, simple table editing, internal and external institutional correspondence, preparing texts according to Turkish standards, writing in different languages, multi-page letters.

MICROECONOMICS
Economic system problems, economic events, parties involved and their behaviors, consumer theory and utility maximization, firm theory and profit maximization, decision-making processes of firms in different markets, factor market analysis, markets, basic economic problems.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP I
Conceptual framework of entrepreneurship, approaches, functions, processes, entrepreneurial culture, entrepreneurship in local and international context, and ethics of entrepreneurship.

ATATÜRK PRINCIPLES AND HISTORY OF TURKISH REVOLUTION II
Atatürk Era reforms, Turkey’s foreign policy during Atatürk’s era, reasons behind the birth of Atatürk principles, principles and threats to Atatürkism. Atatürk as a state leader, explaining the historical and cultural realities of the Turkish nation with respect to Atatürk principles.

TURKISH LANGUAGE II
Types of written and oral expression, importance of punctuation in written expression, application of spelling rules, importance of correct expression in personal and social communication, identifying expression disorders due to foreign language influences, emphasizing the importance of respecting our language.

ENGLISH II
Ability to speak a foreign language clearly, understanding the message when spoken at normal speed, writing appropriately by adhering to grammar and spelling rules, reading and comprehending texts in a foreign language, improving vocabulary.

BASIC INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES II
Historical development of computers and technological innovations, computer structure and functioning, operating systems and commands, Word, Excel, PowerPoint training.

ACCOUNTING
Basic accounting concepts (balance sheet, income statement, accounts, chart of accounts, recording methods, etc.), single and double-entry bookkeeping, understanding and preparing key accounting documents. Understanding account features in the balance sheet and the requirement for businesses to prepare balance sheets periodically. Understanding income statement accounts and periodic preparation of income statements.

MACROECONOMICS
Historical process of macroeconomics and macro models, national income calculation methods, factors determining national income and equilibrium national income. Comparative analysis of classical macro model and simple Keynesian model. Analysis of closed economic IS-LM model and open economic IS-LM-BP model. Money features, emission regimes, role of money in economy, central bank functions and monetary policy analysis. Inflation definition, types, causes and solutions analyzed with AS-AD approach. Employment, unemployment and macroeconomic models’ approaches. Analysis of public deficits and measures for macroeconomic stability.

FILING AND ARCHIVING
Basic concepts of filing and archiving, essential features of a good filing system, principles related to filing systems, stages of filing and archiving processes, document types to be filed and their stages before filing, hardware and auxiliary tools used in filing and archiving.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP II
To equip students with skills and knowledge to develop their entrepreneurial traits and enable them to start their own businesses in addition to working for others.

KEYBOARD TECHNIQUES II
Word processing operations; formatting text in word processor documents; keyboard key functions; correct posture; using letter keys; punctuation and number keys; text writing; speed exercises; writing in foreign languages; handwritten and corrected writings; using different software programs; working with various software.

BANKING SERVICE PRODUCTS
Functions of the banking system, scope and impact of financial intermediation function, banking financial service types, principles and legislation, local and global dimensions of banking system, types of banks and central banks, investment and development banks, commercial banks and their types, deposits and their types, operational rules, deposit-related banking transactions and instruments, loans and general types, custody services in banking, payment and collection services in banking, guarantee services in banking, information and documentation in banking, financial investment services of banks, credit cards, international financing transactions in banking.

INDIVIDUAL PENSION, LIFE AND HEALTH INSURANCE
Providing theoretical and practical knowledge for students who will work in banking and insurance sectors, introducing life and health insurance and individual pension system, equipping students with sufficient knowledge about life and health insurance and individual pension companies.

Objective: To teach the concept, mission, and strategies of modern marketing. Topics include: introduction to marketing, marketing environment, consumer behaviors, marketing information systems, target market selection and segmentation, product management, service and brand management, pricing and pricing strategies, public relations and promotion, direct marketing.

COMPUTERIZED ACCOUNTING II
Understanding basic accounting concepts and documents, principles of preparing financial statements such as balance sheet and income statement, ability to prepare financial statements using computer software, proficiency in accounting software.

PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SECTOR STRUCTURE
Understanding and comparing management and organization characteristics of public and private sectors, knowing similarities and differences in structural aspects of public and private sector managements, analyzing relations between public and private sector managements, definition and features of bureaucracy.

CUSTOMER RELATIONS
