Prof. Dr. Evindar Yeşilbaş, a faculty member of the Department of Art History at our university’s Faculty of Letters, delivered a seminar titled “Portal Design and Ornamentation of the Latifiye Mosque” at the Mardin Olgunlaşma Institute as part of community outreach activities.

Aiming to raise awareness about the preservation of historical and cultural heritage, the seminar featured a comprehensive presentation by Prof. Dr. Yeşilbaş on the stone craftsmanship, portal composition, ornamental features, and the architectural significance of the Latifiye Mosque within the regional art history. Yeşilbaş explained the unique architectural characteristics of the structure through photographs and drawings, discussing in detail the geometric, vegetal, and epigraphic decorations on the portal and their connection to the aesthetic principles of the period.

The event made a significant contribution to strengthening the collaboration between our university and local institutions within the scope of community engagement activities.
