MARDİN ARTUKLU UNIVERSITY
VOCATIONAL SCHOOL OF HEALTH SERVICES
STUDENT ADVISORY DIRECTIVE

Purpose
Article 1 – (1) The purpose of this directive is to regulate the academic advisory services provided to students enrolled at the Vocational School of Health Services at Mardin Artuklu University and to define the procedures and principles of the advisor-student relationship.

Scope
Article 2 – (1) This directive applies to all teaching staff and enrolled students at the Vocational School of Health Services and covers the principles for the implementation of advisory services.

Basis
Article 3 – (1) This directive is prepared based on Article 14 of the Higher Education Law No. 2547 and Article 38 of the Mardin Artuklu University Associate and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulation.

Definitions
Article 4 – (1) In this directive:
a) Unit Manager: refers to the Director of the Vocational School of Health Services,
b) Advisor: refers to full-time teaching staff at the school,
c) Student: refers to students enrolled at the Vocational School of Health Services,
ç) University: refers to Mardin Artuklu University.

Principles for Appointment and Assignment of Advisors
Article 5 – (1) Each student enrolled in the school is assigned an advisor by the head of the department.
(2) Each teaching staff member must have students under their advisory.
(3) Teaching staff with administrative duties are assigned fewer students compared to those without administrative duties.
(4) Student distribution among teaching staff without administrative duties is made according to academic title. Staff with higher academic titles are assigned fewer students, while those with lower titles are assigned more.
(5) The advisory period is determined by the relevant unit boards and recorded in the Student Information System.

Advisory Hours
Article 6 – (1) Advisors allocate a time period of at least two hours per week for advising students outside of class hours.
(2) Scheduled advisory hours are entered into the Student Information System and posted on the advisor’s office door.
(3) Advisors must be present in their offices during the announced hours.

Duties, Authorities, and Responsibilities of the Advisor
Article 7 – (1) Advisors are responsible for supporting students’ academic, social, and personal development. Their duties include:

• Assisting students in planning their education according to relevant legislation,

• Guiding students in course registration and selection, checking course approvals to resolve deficiencies,

• Supporting students’ adaptation to university life, professional development, and career planning,

• Monitoring required and elective courses for graduation and approving students’ graduation,

• Providing guidance to solve student problems and directing them to relevant units when necessary,

• Fulfilling tasks assigned by academic unit administrators concerning the students.

Duties and Responsibilities of Students
Article 8 – (1) Students are responsible for:

• Regularly following the university website, Student Information System, and relevant announcements,

• Attending advisor consultation sessions at the announced times,

• Performing course registrations and add-drop procedures under the supervision of their advisor.

Supervision
Article 9 – (1) Advisory duties and activities are supervised by the School Director and Deputy Directors.

Enforcement
Article 10 – (1) This directive enters into force as of the date it is approved by the Vocational School of Health Services Board.

Execution
Article 11 – (1) The provisions of this directive are executed by the Director of the Vocational School of Health Services.
