About the Dental Prosthesis Technology Program

Program Objectives and Goals

The primary aim of the Dental Prosthesis Technology Program is to educate professionals who are sensitive to human values, society, and ethical principles; respectful to themselves and their environment; professionally competent; committed to lifelong learning; open to diverse ideas and cultures; and capable of working as Dental Prosthesis Technicians in both public and private healthcare institutions. The program seeks to train qualified personnel equipped with the technical knowledge and practical skills required to assist dentists and manage all stages of dental laboratory procedures effectively.

The program also aims to enable students to acquire fundamental knowledge in the field of dental prosthesis technology, gain proficiency in the use of materials, tools, and devices related to the profession, follow technological advancements, learn the professional foreign language required by the discipline, and internalize ethical, equality, and environmental values while being able to apply their professional competencies independently.

Students in this program will learn to:

  • Prepare dental models based on oral impressions taken by dentists.

  • Design, cast, finish, and polish fixed and removable prostheses to ensure aesthetic and functional use in the mouth.

  • Prepare complete and partial removable prostheses by performing tooth arrangement, wax modeling, and acrylic processing according to the impressions taken from fully or partially edentulous patients.

  • Fabricate special dental appliances such as obturators, splints, and epitheses based on dental impressions.

  • Perform repairs on removable prostheses.

  • Manufacture orthodontic appliances as part of treatment plans developed by dentists.

  • Maintain and carry out basic repairs on dental laboratory equipment and instruments.

Employment Opportunities

According to data from the Turkish Ministry of Health, the demand for professionals specializing in oral and dental health significantly exceeds the current supply. Graduates of this program receive both theoretical and practical training that enables them to become highly qualified professionals capable of meeting this growing demand.

Graduates of the program may:

  • Establish their own private dental prosthesis laboratories.

  • Be employed in dental prosthesis and orthodontics laboratories within hospitals affiliated with the Ministry of Health or faculties of dentistry at universities.

  • Work in private dental prosthesis laboratories.

  • Be employed in private dental clinics as dental prosthesis technicians.

Admission Requirements

Admission to the Dental Prosthesis Technology Program is based on the TYT (Basic Proficiency Test) score type through centralized placement conducted by the Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM).
