HISTORY

Nusaybin Vocational School was established on May 5, 2011, as an institution affiliated with Mardin Artuklu University, pursuant to Article 7/d-2 of Law No. 2547, as amended by Law No. 2880. During its establishment, the local administrative bodies of Nusaybin, the public, and the relevant authorities provided strong support to our school; this solidarity made significant contributions to building the institution on a solid foundation.

Our school actively commenced its educational activities on January 2, 2013, with the approval of the Higher Education Council (YÖK) for the Foreign Trade and Applied English and Translation programs. In this context, based on the YÖK decision dated May 14, 2013, the first students were admitted to the Foreign Trade Program, and the 2013–2014 academic year began with 25 students.

Today, our school trains qualified graduates who meet the needs of businesses operating at national and international levels in areas such as foreign trade, export, import, accounting of foreign trade transactions, exchange, and customs clearance. In addition, graduates of the Applied English and Translation Program, which offers a wide range of employment opportunities, can work in translation offices, public institutions (such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Directorate for EU Affairs, consulates, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism), international companies, media organizations, travel agencies, and non-governmental organizations.

Our school is committed to developing its institutional culture in line with the principles of transparency, cooperation with stakeholders, adherence to scientific ethics, and universal values. With a vision that encourages original thought, leads social development, and acts innovatively and in a research-oriented manner, our institution aims to provide quality education without compromise. Closely following technological developments and integrating this knowledge into the teaching and learning processes, our academic staff continues the mission of training well-equipped students who can serve in the public sector, private enterprises, and academia.

As of the 2024–2025 academic year, in addition to the existing Foreign Trade and Applied English and Translation programs, new programs in Public Relations and Publicity, Cultural Heritage and Tourism, and Tourism and Travel Services have been launched. With this expansion, our school has further strengthened its capacity to meet sectoral needs both regionally and nationally. Thus, our institution continues to play a leading role not only in academia but also in social, cultural, and economic development. Through ongoing efforts to establish new departments, Nusaybin Vocational School aims to become a center of attraction in the region for associate degree education.

The academic staff of our school consists of 1 Associate Professor and 2 Lecturers in the Department of Foreign Trade, 2 Lecturers in the Department of Foreign Languages and Cultures, 4 Lecturers in the Department of Travel-Tourism and Entertainment Services, and 2 Lecturers in the Department of Marketing and Advertising.
