MAU’s Survey Studies Completed: MAU’s Digital Promotion Stands Out, Public Demands New Faculty

The “Research to Measure the Perception and Expectations of Artuklu University in Mardin”, conducted at Mardin Artuklu University, has been completed. The study was conducted by Technology Transfer Office General Manager Lecturer Mümtaz Korkutan and Ebru Oskaloğlu, Research Assistant at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences.

Led by Lecturer Mümtaz Korkutan, General Manager of Mardin Artuklu University’s Technology Transfer Office, a survey was conducted among internal stakeholders (academic staff and students) and external stakeholders (the people of Mardin). The survey addressed topics such as satisfaction with promotions made through the university’s social media channels, overall satisfaction and expectations about the university, a sense of belonging to the city and the university, the importance of digital media in public communication, the contribution of students who choose the city to its development, and the role of student employment and internship opportunities in regional development. Participants were also asked which faculties or departments they would like to see established at the university.
It was reported that in the research, in which the face-to-face survey method was used, 350 academic staff, 1,205 students and 1,200 people from Mardin were interviewed and more than 2,000 surveys that were found suitable for analysis were evaluated.
The study revealed that the university has a strong institutional affiliation, recognition and expectation among both internal and external stakeholders.
According to the results of the survey conducted among academic staff, students, and the people of Mardin, academic staff demonstrated a high level of commitment to the institution and expressed expectations, particularly for increased research opportunities and strengthened administrative communication. According to the survey results, social media accounts stood out as the most effective tool for academic staff to promote the university with 32.7%, while the corporate website (23.4%) and scientific events (21.9%) were other important elements.
Students cited expectations for educational quality and academic development as their most important needs (12.1%), while requests for increased social facilities (10.6%) and solutions to transportation and housing problems (8%) also came to the fore. Students’ overall perception of the university was 3.05 out of 5.
In the Mardin public survey, 26.4% of participants stated that they learned most about the university through social media. Their top expectations for the university were attracting more students to the city (20.1%) and stronger collaboration with local governments (18.5%), while 46.5% wanted the Faculty of Law to establish.
In general, the study revealed that the university has a strong institutional image, but this perception could be further reinforced with more effective promotional activities, stakeholder-focused strategies, and initiatives that will contribute to society.
