MAU Academics Achieve International Recognition

According to the results of the “Scientific Author Databases Based on Standardized Citation Metrics” published by Stanford University in California, USA, and the prestigious Dutch publishing company ELSEVIER with its 2025 update, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Velid Unsal  and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Faruk Seyitoğlu ranked among the most influential scientists. 

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Velid Unsal, who works at the Faculty of Health Sciences at Mardin Artuklu University, has conducted research in the fields of biochemistry, toxicology, oxidative stress, and computer-aided drug design. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Faruk Seyitoğlu, who works at the Faculty of Tourism, has achieved significant success in both national and international academic circles with his work in the field of tourism, particularly in the areas of robots and robotic technology, tourist behavior, destination management, and gastronomy. 

It was noted that Unsal, who completed his master's and doctoral degrees in the Medical Biochemistry (Medicine) program at the Institute of Health Sciences, previously served as a research assistant at KSÜ and GOP Medical Faculties. In his studies, he has used methods such as enzyme activity measurement, cell toxicity, ELISA, and computer-based calculations, and has made important contributions to the scientific world by thoroughly analyzing the biochemical processes of various drugs and molecules using these methods.

Assoc. Prof. Seyitoğlu completed his master's and doctoral degrees in Tourism Management and did his post-doctorate at the University of Aveiro. Seyitoğlu previously worked at institutions such as the Akdeniz University Faculty of Tourism and the Kapadokya University School of Applied Sciences. His work focused on topics related to technology in tourism services, robots and robotic technology in tourism services, tourist behavior, tourism planning, destination management, restaurant management, and gastronomy. In his research, he made important contributions to the scientific world in the field of tourism by developing conceptual models and using quantitative, qualitative, and mixed research methods. 
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Velid Unsal, who is a faculty member in the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at the Faculty of Health Sciences at MAU, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Faruk Seyitoğlu, have been published in reputable scientific journals and continue to gain recognition in the international scientific community with increasing citations. 

Providing information about the list based on Stanford University's comprehensive data analysis, Mardin Artuklu University Rector Prof. Dr. İbrahim Özcoşar stated that it was created based on criteria such as the number of publications in journals indexed by Scopus, the citations they received, and the H-index of all scientists worldwide.
Rector Özcoşar emphasized that the number of academics from Turkey who made it onto the list in the field of Sport, Leisure & Tourism is 9, including Faruk Seyitoğlu, and that Assoc. Prof. Dr. Velid Unsal has achieved significant success with his work in many fields.

Özcoşar congratulated Assoc. Prof. Dr. Faruk Seyitoğlu and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Velid Unsal for successfully representing Mardin Artuklu University on the international scientific platform by being included in the 2025 list and wished them continued success. He also stated that the academics brought great pride to both the university and Mardin with their work.
