The areas of the Mardin Architecture Factory are determined in light of the issues outlined below, which are awaiting resolution:
General architectural issues: Architectural design problems in university campuses and architectural problems in the city of Mardin.
Project production methods: Problems arising from project processes exceeding budgets as a result of the slow adaptation of Building Information Modelling methods in Turkey.
Architectural technology: The failure of academic institutions in Turkey to secure EU funding that would enable architecture application-research/design-research opportunities targeting ‘know-how’ technologies, and the loss incurred in such joint international funds that include our country's resources. In this regard, the shortcomings in the production of high value-added architectural technology.
Trust in architecture: The lack of a reliable architectural institution. The lack of formations that would contribute to the development of architectural and environmental awareness by bringing together stakeholders from all walks of life.
While the first two of the above problems become areas of work in line with mimfab's Project & Implementation objectives, the other two determine R&D-focused areas.
