Between September 1–5, 2025, at the 43rd Education and Research in Computer Aided Architectural Design in Europe (eCAADe) Conference held in Ankara, Mimfab Center Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serdar Aydın and his colleagues presented two important scientific papers to the international academic community.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aydın and his colleagues presented their papers titled “Structural Assessment of Historic Masonry Structures Using Isogeometric Analysis and Parametric Approaches: The Case of Mardin Vaults” and “Testing A Digital Process Model for Preserving Stone Craftsmanship in BIM: From Digital Heritage to Circularity.”
Within the scope of the presented papers, the preservation of Mardin's historical stone structures and traditional stonework through the principles of digital heritage, sustainability, and parametric modeling was discussed. The studies offer an innovative approach to documenting, preserving, and transferring cultural heritage to future generations using BIM-based digital methods. These important contributions increase the international visibility of Mimfab and our university in the fields of digital design, architectural technologies, and cultural heritage preservation, while also laying an important foundation for the promotion of Mardin's historical and cultural values on scientific platforms.
At the conference, Mimfab Assistant Director Assistant Professor İzzettin Kutlu and Center Urban Design Officer Research Assistant Deryanur Şimşek also participated actively, contributing to the ongoing work. The team delivered effective presentations and held productive discussions with international academic partners.
