The exam dates for Common Courses in the exam calendar published in the units are not the exam dates for Distance Education Common Courses. The exam calendar determined by the Distance Education Center is published on a semester basis on the academic calendar page.

At MAUZEM, midterm exams are administered online. Students can take the exams on the specified date and time from any location with internet access. Final and make-up exams are administered centrally. Final and make-up exam locations are announced online 15 days prior to the exam date, and students can find their exam locations by following our MAUZEM page.

In MAUZEM, the effect of the Midterm Exam is 20%, and the effect of the final and make-up exams on the success grade is determined as 80%.

It is calculated by taking 20% ​​of the midterm exams and 80% of the final exams online.

Distance learning is a form of education that utilizes the opportunities afforded by internet technology, bringing students and faculty together in a virtual classroom, regardless of location, and providing students with access to educational materials regardless of time. In other words, distance learning is a structured learning method that utilizes technological advancements and brings students and teachers face-to-face in a virtual classroom environment in various ways, without requiring students to be physically present.

Distance learning, unlike open education, brings students and faculty together in a virtual environment through applications such as virtual classrooms, forums, blogs, and so on. Students enter the virtual classroom at designated times and can also share course-related information with each other and faculty through forums and blogs. Therefore, distance learning is not limited to the presentation of course materials; it offers a more interactive experience.

Distance education is a particularly attractive system for various groups, including those who do not wish to pursue higher education in a city or country other than their current city due to reasons such as cost, transportation difficulties, or not disrupting their routine, those who wish to further their education without interrupting their studies, those who have difficulty coming to campus due to physical disabilities, and those who wish to participate in a second higher education program.

Distance learning program students can take advantage of all the opportunities MAUZEM Artuklu University provides to other students, including obtaining a student ID, accessing the university's social, cultural, and athletic facilities, and accessing the library. Graduates of distance learning programs have the same titles and rights as graduates of formal education programs.

As with all other programs at Mardin Artuklu University, distance learning is taught by experienced, expert faculty members at Mardin Artuklu University. Educational technology is utilized in both live and asynchronous course content. As with formal education, thirty percent (30%) of the courses requiring practical application are taught face-to-face. Distance learning is free from time and location restrictions such as public holidays, adverse weather conditions, and other restrictions.

In accordance with the relevant legislation, the Council of Higher Education grants equivalence to Distance Education diplomas and documents for formal education programs.

Graduates of distance learning programs have the same titles and rights as graduates of formal education programs. Additionally, distance learning students can take advantage of all the opportunities Mardin Artuklu University offers, including military service, obtaining a student ID, accessing the university's social, cultural, and athletic facilities, accessing the library, internships, and taking vertical transfer exams.

Distance learning courses are conducted in three stages: asynchronous sessions, online sessions, and forum sessions. In asynchronous sessions, students can access the lecture notes stored in the system at any time and place, download them to their computers, and study them. Online courses are held on the scheduled day and time. During these sessions, the instructor teaches the course in a studio using a smart board, camera, and microphone. Students can watch the course live online, ask the instructor questions, orally or in writing, and practice. (Click for a sample live lesson.) Furthermore, students can expand their knowledge by participating in forum sessions, where they can share information about the course with each other and the instructor, explore additional resources, and communicate with instructors and classmates.
