Call for papers - International Online Conference and Collective Volume
The roots of Islamic knowledge and sciences reach back into the schooling carried out by the Prophet and his pioneer companions at the Masjid al-Nabawi and the Suffa. By the time of progress, this schooling took on an institutional identity and became systematized in the well-established body of madrasahs. In the modern times, this madrasah model underwent a profound transformation, and today most of the scholarly and educational activities regarding Islamic knowledge and sciences operate within this model. The focus and implementation system of higher education has been changed by the development in education approaches and academic researches, in technological innovations and resources in the world, and in other changing conditions that lead to reconsider the existing higher education institutions. In this connection, it is of great importance to explore to what extent the Islamic Sciences in the Muslim majority geographies accommodated itself to this change.
Today, many of the universities in the Islamic World embody either faculties or departments of Islamic Sciences. Each of them is shaped by different educational concepts based on the diversity in their tradition, geography and experiences gained throughout the history. The goal of this conference is to reveal the intellectual grounds, visions, aims, education and teaching methods, research areas, social and political relations, technological use (digital humanities), ancient and religious studies, which are the indicators of richness of Islamic Sciences. By accomplishing this goal, it is aimed to increase the interaction and cooperation among the Islamic Sciences units spread in the Islamic World.
