Mardin Digital Bibliography Now Available

Academic resources on Mardin brought together on a single digital platform

The Mardin Digital Bibliography, developed by Mardin Artuklu University’s Mardin Research Application and Research Center (MAUM), is now available to researchers, students, and everyone conducting studies on Mardin.

Prepared as part of the Mardin Academic Resources Compilation Project, the platform aims to bring together publications concerning the province of Mardin, its districts, and the region’s historical, cultural, architectural, archaeological, social, and academic heritage within a systematic structure. Books, book chapters, journal articles, theses, conference papers, reports, and various other types of academic studies are made accessible through a classified and searchable digital archive.

The platform enables users to access academic resources produced on Mardin across different periods and disciplines in a faster, more organized, and comprehensive manner. A broad body of literature ranging from history and architecture to art, archaeology, cultural heritage, health, and social research can be searched by publication type, category, location, period, language, and bibliographic variables.

Advanced Search and Classification Options

Users of the Mardin Digital Bibliography can conduct direct searches by title, author, subject, and research field. Through advanced filtering options, search results can be progressively narrowed according to criteria such as publication type, category, location, period, and language. This makes it possible to locate the required academic resource within an extensive body of literature in a shorter period of time.

Wherever possible, the source and identification details of bibliographic records are linked to DOI numbers, ISBNs, thesis identification numbers, and institutional publication records. This approach enables users to examine the original source of the publications they locate and, where available, access the relevant study directly.

Mardin’s Places and Research Fields Can Be Explored Together

The platform offers more than a simple list of publication titles. Studies concerning Mardin’s districts, historical regions, monuments, religious structures, settlements, and archaeological sites can also be examined through their spatial contexts.

Academic studies on numerous places and structures—from Mardin Castle and the Artuqid heritage to Melik Mahmut Mosque, Mardin Grand Mosque, Deyrulzafaran Monastery, Dara Ancient City, Midyat, and Tur Abdin—can be explored within the same system.

By making the connections between authors, periods, structures, places, and research fields visible, the platform allows users to trace the overall development of the literature on Mardin. This structure also contributes to identifying both extensively studied subjects and areas that have not yet received sufficient scholarly attention.

A Continuously Developing and Updated Academic Archive

The Mardin Digital Bibliography was designed not as a completed and unchanging database, but as an evolving academic archive that will continue to grow through new resource entries and editorial reviews. Work on adding new publications, verifying existing records, and improving bibliographic information will be carried out regularly.

With different theme options and support for Turkish, English, Arabic, and Kurdish, the platform is expected to contribute to the national and international visibility of research on Mardin.

An Integrated Resource for Researchers and Students

The digital literature search system developed by the Mardin Research Application and Research Center serves as an accessible reference resource for academics, postgraduate researchers, students, public institutions, local researchers, and everyone interested in Mardin’s historical and cultural heritage.

Through the platform, it is intended to facilitate the literature review processes of future studies on Mardin, increase the visibility of the existing academic body of knowledge, and establish new research connections across different disciplines.

With the Mardin Digital Bibliography, academic resources on Mardin are now brought together on a single digital platform.
