Jewelry Designs Inspired by Mardin are in Slovenia

The exhibition titled "Geometric Poetry" met with art lovers at Center Rog between 24-26 April 2024.

 

İzzet ZORLU, research assistant from Mardin Artuklu University, Midyat Faculty of Art and Design, Department of Metalcraft and Jewelry Design, opened an exhibition in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, with the jewelry he designed. ZORLU, who made a presentation in English on "Traditional Jewelry Shaping Techniques" upon the invitation of Prof. Deja MUCK from the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering of the University of Ljubljana, mentioned that Mesopotamia is a region where jewelry techniques were born. He also pointed out that Mardin/Midyat is developed in the field of filigree and has received a geographical indication.
The designer, who uses the geometric ornaments found in the Artuqid period works in Mardin in his designs, continues to introduce the designs inspired by our city and thus the region in Hungary, Austria, Kuwait, and Slovenia, respectively. İzzet ZORLU, who took initiatives for the students of the Metalcraft and Jewelry Design department to obtain Erasmus Training Mobility and Internship opportunities at the University of Ljubljana and made a preliminary agreement with the Erasmus Coordinator of the relevant university, informed that the exchange program could gain effectiveness in the coming period.
