Course Content: The main aim of this course is to clarify the background of Turkey’s current socioeconomic structure through explaning the evlotution process of economic and political institutions from Ottaman Empire to the Turkish Republic and the modernization process of the Rebuplic. For this purpose, the modernization concept, Turkey's modernization process after foundation of the Rebuplic along with the economic transformations taking place in Turkey, urbanization, demographic change, family, children, youth, women and the information society issues are discussed and analyzed.

Monetary integration theory: definition of monetary union, stages and costs and benefits of monetary union. Monetary union experience of EU and Euro. European debt crisis and future of Euro.
