
Mardin Artuklu University has made another significant investment to strengthen its academic and cultural infrastructure, laying the foundations for the modern building to be built for the Vocational School and State Conservatory, which will be located in the Central Campus area.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the new building, to be constructed on the university's central campus, was attended by MAU Rector Prof. Dr. İbrahim Özcoşar, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Yusuf Doğan, Prof. Dr. Reşit Yıldız, and Prof. Dr. Yılmaz Demirhan, Deputy Secretary General Ender Altun, administrators from the Vocational School and the State Conservatory, the Construction and Technical Services Department team, contractor company representatives, and academics.
According to information obtained from the university's Construction and Technical Services Department, the project, for which the tender was completed and the contract signed on October 22, 2025, for a price of 183,323,323.23 TL, is scheduled for completion on December 7, 2026.
The Construction and Technical Services Department stated that the building, now under construction, will have a residential area of 1,346.82 square meters, a total construction area of 5,097.29 square meters, and a landscaping area of 7,500 square meters on an 8,878 square meter plot.
The statement emphasized that the building, which will consist of two basement floors, a ground floor, and two standard floors, will be designed with accessibility in mind, providing a modern educational environment accessible to all students and staff.
The Department of Construction and Technical Works provided information about the special design features of the building, stating that the building will include 16 classrooms, two lecture halls, a drawing room, a drawing and modeling room, a building materials laboratory, two laboratories, two computer labs, a sound studio, a recording room, individual study rooms, academic and administrative offices, a meeting hall, a canteen, a library, and a prayer room.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Rector Prof. Dr. İbrahim Özcoşar stated that the new building will provide a well-equipped environment where students of the Vocational School and the State Conservatory can pursue both theoretical and practical education. Özcoşar stated, “This building will be a living space that will shape our students' ideas, talents, and production. By bringing the Vocational School and the State Conservatory together under the same roof, we are creating a unique educational model that brings together art, design, technology, and science. Our university's motto of 'Morality, Knowledge, Production' will also be realized here.”
Prof. Dr. Özcoşar also emphasized that the project was designed with an architectural approach compatible with Mardin's cultural richness and that the building will be accessible to the disabled and highly energy efficient. He also stated that upon completion, the new Vocational School and State Conservatory building will enhance the university's academic, artistic, and technical education capacity, offer students a contemporary, accessible, and productive educational environment, and further strengthen Mardin Artuklu University's contribution to regional development. He thanked all the teams involved in this project.
