Philosophy and Science of Religion Department investigates the effects of religions and ideas, emerging through the human history, on individual and society within the context of areas such as philosophy, sociology, psychology, education and history of religions in a historical, systematic and academic manner. The main objective of the department is to provide education for bachelor’s degree students in Faculty of Islamic Sciences; to contribute to students’ achieving theology formation in detail and being individuals who are questioning, hardworking and responsible; to raise scientists able to conduct academic research internationally by making use of local elements; to put these programmes into practice considering modern argument fields.
Within the body of Department of Philosophy and Religious Sciences, there exists two departments; namely, Department of Islamic Philosophy which involves fields such as Islamic Philosophy, History of Philosophy and Logic; and Department of Religious Sciences which involve fields such as Philosophy of Religion, History of Religions, Sociology of Religion, Psychology of Religion and Education of Religion.
Department of Philosophy and Religious Sciences includes a Master’s degree programme and accepts 12 students annually.
