Within the strong academic structure of the Faculty of Medicine at Mardin Artuklu University, the Department of Surgical Medical Sciences plays a pioneering role in education, research, and patient care. Built upon the deep-rooted history and scientific tradition of our faculty, our department combines the requirements of contemporary medicine, ethical values, and ever-evolving technological opportunities in its services. The department encompasses various disciplines such as general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, otorhinolaryngology, ophthalmology, urology, cardiovascular surgery, and neurosurgery, all of which demonstrate scientific productivity at both national and international levels. In addition to the fundamental principles of medical education, our students are taught advanced surgical approaches, while our specialty training is guided by a multidisciplinary vision. The Department of Surgical Medical Sciences is not only dedicated to training physicians but also serves as a center that directly contributes to public health. Our mission is to provide patients with up-to-date, reliable, and evidence-based treatments; to contribute to the development of new surgical techniques; and to offer an educational environment that inspires the physicians of the future. Our department conducts its clinical practices with respect for human dignity and scientific integrity, contributing to the advancement of medical science through research projects, academic publications, and international collaborations.
