NEW JOURNALS PREPARE TO SET SAIL ON THEIR ACADEMIC JOURNEYS
The new journals to be established under the MAU Scientific Publications Coordination Office are nearing the final stage in initiating their official procedures. At the meeting held today, Friday, 17 October 2025, at 15:00, all concrete steps to be taken regarding the journals were discussed in detail.
The meeting was attended by the Founding Committees of the journals planned to be published under MAU Press and to be established through the Institute of Living Languages in Turkey (TYDE). Participants included Prof. Dr. Adnan Oktay from BILKOR; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kırkan, Director of TYDE; unit journal coordinator Dr. Şeyhmus Kurt; representing the Mardin Artuklu Syriaca Journal, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Sait Toprak and Dr. Mihayel Akyüz; and representing the Artuklu Arabica Journal, Asst. Prof. Dr. İsmail Araz and Res. Asst. Merve Küçükzoroğlu.
During the meeting, which featured an extensive agenda, participants exchanged views on a wide range of topics, including journal management, author and reviewer processes, social media accounts, and journal writing guidelines.
Held under the slogan “Higher-Quality Journals”, the meeting concluded with the decision to initiate the official university procedures for establishing the journals. TYDE Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kırkan stated that they attach great importance to the newly founded journals and that both journals will fill a significant gap in their respective fields.
The Mardin Artuklu Syriaca Journal will focus on Syriac Studies, while the Artuklu Arabica Journal will center on Arabic Language and Literature.
