Symposium Call for Papers

Invitation to the Symposium

25. International Beytülmakdis Academic Symposium

ACADEMY AND ZIONISM:

Zio-Genocide, International Community and Global Conscience

We have determined the main theme of the 25. International Beytülmakdis Academic Symposium, to be organized for the second time this year, hosted by Mardin Artuklu University, as Academy and Zionism, Zio-Genocide, International Community and Global Conscience”.

The devastating attacks launched by Israel on all Palestinian territories, especially Gaza, in order to implement the Zionist project have entered their second year. Taking place before the eyes of the international community, these attacks have been recorded as one of the most brutal genocides witnessed in human history. We are faced with a dark picture in which tens of thousands of innocent civilians have lost their lives under heavy bombardment, hundreds of thousands are struggling with crises such as hunger, epidemics and displacement, and countless Palestinians are being subjected to severe torture in Israeli prisons. The 24. International Beytülmakdis Academic Symposium, to be held under the theme of Academy and Zionism: Zio-Genocide, International Community and Global Conscience”.  aims to discuss the whole truth with all its reality and provide the Palestinian Studies with sensible contributions. Taking “Zio-Genocide” notion as a basis, the symposium aims to address the brutality experienced by the Palestinian people, the silence of the international community against this genocide, and the objections rising from the global conscience on an academic and intellectual basis.

The primary issue that the symposium aims to address is the silence of the international community in the face of the Zionist Genocide. Built under Western leadership after World War II and claimed to be based on a "norm-based" system, the international system, the silence and ineffectiveness of nations and organizations influenced by their contributions such as UN, NATO and EU necessitate the legitimacy of this system. How the universal “norms” and human values advocated by Western civilization become dysfunctional when Muslim societies are the ones subjected to genocide is a critical issue that needs to be carefully examined and discussed. This silence obligates a deep questioning of the sincerity of the international system's claims regarding justice and human rights.

Another important issue to be addressed in the symposium is the rising objections of the global conscience against the USA and European countries, who are either openly supporting the Zio-Genocide carried out by Israel or remaining silent. The fact that civil society around the world is raising its voice strongly and resolutely against the Zionist Genocide presents a hopeful picture for the future of humanity. This symposium aims to examine the motives that mobilize the global conscience, which does not remain silent and openly demonstrates its reaction despite the pressure and manipulations of the media, capital circles and governments that bow to Zionist oppression. And how these objections provide a basis for struggle to protect human dignity and establish justice will be discussed in detail.
