Taking decisive steps with great developmental efforts, Mardin Artuklu University continues to work non-stop to incorporate the region's most comprehensive library building into its structure.
It was learned that the most part of construction work of “Library Building”, which aims at providing high standards of studying for the researches and students at all levels from all over the world, has been completed and will be in service soon.
The Reading Hall, Electronic Resources Research Hall, Book Archive, Binding Studio, Book Repair Workshop, Periodicals Reading Hall, Quiet Study Room, Exhibition Hall, Museum and Seminar Hall were built in the Central Library Building which will have a fully equipped information center features.
Pointing out that library should be a center that collects the necessary information and information resources related to the realization of the education, teaching and research activities and provides them to the users at its best, Mardin Artuklu University Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ağırakça also stated, “We are taking decisive steps to provide education and research opportunities for the breakthroughs that Mardin Artuklu University will make in academic and scientific fields.”
Continuing his words by emphasizing that university will continue to strive for transmission of its hometown’s accumulation of knowledge based on the centuries to the students and researches by its distinguished teaching staff in the light of the changes and innovations in the world, Ağırakça also stated:
The library to be established within the Mardin Artuklu University will be a universal place that provides the highest level of modern librarianship requirements and can provide information services in all areas.
Library building, planned as a 4 storey-building on 11.600 m² area, will also include Mini Conference Halls, Individual Studying Cabins, Disabled Students Studying Room, Club Rooms, Computer Laboratory, Cafeteria, Praying Rooms, Stationery and Copy Rooms.
Mardin Artuklu University Central Library, equipped with RFID technology, which also has Self Check, Kiosk and Return stations, will also carry out 24-hour continuous library activity with a capacity of 64 people.
