“International Symposium on the 50th Anniversary of Martyr Sayyid Qutb” Held

International Symposium on the 50th Anniversary of Martyr Sayyid Qutb about Egyptian writer, glossator and thinker Sayyid Qutb organized by  Mardin Artuklu University  has attracted a great deal of attention.

 

Local and foreign guests from different sectors of country as well as press, many academicians, writers and university students attended the symposium held in İstanbul Fatih Ali Emiri Culture Center which provided in fact historical idea fest.

Many audience, who had difficulty in finding a seat in the hall, had to sit on the floor or stay at the door while watching the two-day international symposium on “The 50th Anniversary of Martyr Sayyid Qutb” which was contributed by researchers, academicians and scientists in field of history, literature, sociology, theology and Islamic Sciences from various countries.

In the symposium held in four main sessions under titles of 'Sayyid Qutb's System of Thought', 'Sayyid Qutb's Action Dimension of Thoughts', 'Sayyid Qutb's Procedural / Methodological Dimension', 'Discussions about Sayyid Qutb', Mardin Artuklu University Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ağırakça said in his opening statement that although fifty years has passed over the martyrdom, a major part and e new generation have grown mature with Sayyid Qutb's works.

Pointing out that Sayyid Qutb has led to the growing of a new generation of the Qur'an in the Islamic world through his thoughts, courage and determination, Rector Ağırakça stated that those who differ from each other in thought and even do not love Sayyid Qutb have gained speed in their movements by benefitting from His works and educational approach.     
Having presented his paper titled ”Sayyid Qutb's Contribution to Turkey’s  Islamic Awakening“ Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ağırakça continued to say that:
Twenty years ago on behalf of İrfan Vakfı (Wisdom Foundation) in 1996 and after that ten years later on behalf of Medeniyet Derneği (Association of Civilizations) in 2006 the honor to organize Symposium on Sayyid Qutb was bestowed to me - your poor brother. Today “International Symposium on the 50th Anniversary of Martyr Sayyid Qutb” which was organized by Mardin Artuklu University will provide us to know various aspects of this man of great ideas, thoughts and action, and to keep his martyrdom alive through contributions of our valuable scientists.

organized  as a university "in the martyrdom of the 50th Seyyd Qutb" International Symposium, with the support of our esteemed scholars, this great idea, thought and action of his men will contribute to keeping alive the recognition and our witness different aspects.

The symposium received telegraph of congratulation from many people and organizations such as particularly Prime Minister Binali Yildirim, Justice Minister Bekir Bozdağ, Labour and Social Security Minister Mehmet Müezzinoğlu and National Education Minister İsmet Yılmaz, and was attended with a paper titled “Sayyid Qutb's Thought about the Locality and Universality” by Ak Party General Vice President of Human Rights and Part Spokesman Prof. Dr. Yasin Aktay.

The symposium which had Arabic and Turkish simultaneous translation service ended with “Assessment Session” under moderator Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ağırakça, and participants Prof. Dr.Mehmet Sait Şimşek, Prof. Dr. Abdulhalik al-Şerif, Prof. Dr. Yasin Aktay, Prof. Dr. Usama Al-Hamwi, Doç. Dr. İbrahim El-Dibo and thinker and writer Hamza Türkmen as speaker.
